MARY WARD HOUSE WEEK (23 JANUARY-30 JANUARY 2024)

Over 400
years ago, Mary Ward, the founder of the Loreto Institution across the world,
was born on 23 January 1585. We celebrate this day every year through a Special
Prayer Service and the celebrations continue for a week.
A special prayer service was held in the Mary
Ward Auditorium to seek the blessings of God. It was conducted by the House
mistresses and students of Junior, Middle, and Senior school. It was attended
by the Community Leader, Sister Igora Pinto, Community Leader, the Principal, Mrs.
Alice Rose D'Lima, Sisters, Coordinators, teachers, and students of Junior,
Middle, and Senior School.
An inspiring
enactment, depicting the life of Mother Mary Ward, was conducted by the Ward
House students at Junior school. It showcased the journey and struggles of
Mother Mary Ward in giving meaning to the existence of women in society. Soulful hymns kept reverberating the hall
throughout the prayer service.
Various
activities were planned for the students of Junior, Middle, and Senior
throughout the week.
Junior
School- With reference
to the values of Mother Mary Ward and considering the theme, Blue and White,
the students in Junior School made beautiful Tiaras, Craft birds, Bookmarks, File
Folders, Collages along with story writing activity.

30 January commemorates
the death anniversary of our foundress Mother Mary Ward, and is celebrated as
Loreto Day worldwide to mark the birth of Loreto Schools across the globe. We,
the staff and students of Loreto Delhi celebrated Loreto
Day on 30 January 2024. A special assembly was dedicated to Mother Mary Ward,
her maxims, and their relevance even in present times.
The
Middle and Senior school girls had prepared a special assembly on this day. Mother
Mary Ward was a visionary, she could see a bright spark in the young girls and
their abilities. The assembly also comprised of a beautiful prayer service and various
hymns. The highlight of the Prayer Service was a short video dedicated to the
virtues of Mary Ward- Freedom, Justice, Sincerity, Felicity, and Verity. The
video comprised of various incidents and memorable pictures of Mother Mary Ward
and her followers. After the prayer service, Ward House students of Junior
school presented a lively dance to sing the praise of Jesus and thank Him for
his guidance and presence in our lives.
Sister Igora
Pinto addressed the staff and the students at the end and congratulated each
one on being patient and walking confidently on the path shown by Venerable
Mother Mary Ward. Sister shared the powerful virtues and maxims of Mother Mary
Ward and their relevance even in the present times.
Mrs Alice
Rose D’lima also addressed the gathering and congratulated everyone for a wonderful
Prayer Service in memory of Mother Mary Ward.
